Is GoodRx Prescription Discounts insurance?
No. GoodRx Prescription Discounts is not a health plan or insurance. GoodRx Prescription Discounts is a program that helps AAA members find lower drug prices by providing coupons and discounts that can be used at local pharmacies. GoodRx Prescription Discounts often offers a lower price than your insurance co-pay and can be used instead of your insurance. GoodRx Prescription Discounts cannot be used with insurance or combined with any federal or state-funded programs such as Medicare.
GoodRx Prescription Discounts does not satisfy the Affordable Care Act mandate for insurance coverage. If you have questions or would like to find a qualifying insurance plan, please visit https://www.healthcare.gov/
Do I have to be a AAA Member to use this program?
GoodRx Prescription Discounts provides AAA Members with exclusive savings. As long as your AAA membership is active, you will have access to these coupons and discounts.
How do I use the GoodRx discounts for pets?
GoodRx Prescription Discounts brings together prices from major online pet medication retailers, local pharmacies and other sources to find you the lowest prices on all your pet medications.
If your pet has been prescribed a human medication, like latanoprost, then GoodRx Prescription Discounts coupons and cards will work for your pet's prescription. The pharmacist will need a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number from your vet so that the prescription and GoodRx coupon or discount card can be processed together. Be sure to ask your vet to include the DEA number on your pet’s prescription.
Please note, GoodRx coupons and discounts cannot be used on compounded or pet-only medications, such as flea and tick treatments.
If the pharmacist has any trouble processing the DEA number and coupon or discount card, please give us a call at

What is the Price Match Offer?
If you filled a generic prescription at a Walgreens pharmacy that has a lower cash price than the price available on AAA.com/GoodRx, GoodRx will match the Walgreens price.
GoodRx will reimburse you the difference between the Walgreens cash price you paid and coupon price of your drug that is listed on AAA.com/GoodRx via Amazon gift card (excluding all taxes and/or other fees). If desired, a GoodRx Advocate will help you locate a pharmacy within ten (10) miles of your home location with a price that is lower than the cash price you paid. The GoodRx advocate can even assist with transferring your prescription to another pharmacy. Note that the lower cash price you paid must be a generally available, marketed price.
In order to qualify for the Price Match Offer, any claim must be submitted within 7 days of the purchase date. In addition, the following requirements must be met in order for your claim to be processed successfully.
Qualification Requirements:
The Price Match Offer only applies to generic medications purchased at a Walgreens pharmacy. The lower price offered to you must also be generally available, marketed price at any Walgreens pharmacy, and the price matched cannot exceed the price paid. Price Match Offer does not apply to controlled substances.
We only match prices with respect to the AAA-GoodRx price as compared to the Walgreens price at the time of your purchase. Price Match Offer does not apply to insurance prices, pharmacy membership prices, patient assistance or manufacturer coupons.
This offer does not match coupons available on AAA.com/GoodRx. In addition, this offer does not match prices offered by other discount card services or providers.
Finally, since GoodRx Prescription Discounts for AAA Members coupons must be used at physical retail pharmacy locations, this offer does not apply to mail-order pharmacy prices.
Qualified reimbursements shall be limited to twenty dollars ($20) maximum per prescription purchase and one-hundred dollars ($100) maximum per calendar year. Terms and conditions of the Price Match Offer are subject to change at any time without notice.
How do I submit a claim for the Price Match Offer?
You will need to submit valid documentation to GoodRx. Documentation includes proof of purchase, such as pharmacy receipts that include prescription details, date of purchase and purchase price. Please note, we cannot process a price match unless all requested documentation is correctly filled out. The Price Match Offer process cannot be completed over the phone. You will need to submit the request through this contact form.
What is the difference between the GoodRx Prescription Discount coupon and card?
GoodRx Prescription Discount coupons and discount cards are processed the same way at the pharmacy because they have the same information for the pharmacist to enter.
Coupons provide more transparency by showing AAA Members the most up-to-date price that their prescription will cost at the pharmacy. When you look up your prescription on AAA.com/GoodRx, you see the price of your prescription at every pharmacy near you, so you get to choose the pharmacy with the best price. This results, on average, in more member savings when using a coupon instead of a discount card.
Discount cards are ideal for AAA Members who like keeping a card in their purse or wallet, or for those who do not have regular access to coupons at AAA.com/GoodRx. The discount card offers a single discount price. It will still provide exclusive AAA Member—only savings that can help you save at the pharmacy, but it may not always provide the best savings. In order to receive the lowest price available on AAA.com/GoodRx, you must present the coupon with the lowest price to the pharmacist.
My pharmacy will not accept my discount. What do I do?
On occasion, a pharmacist may not be aware of the agreement that the pharmacy has to honor GoodRx Prescription Discounts, even when it is contractually obligated to accept the coupons and discount cards unless otherwise noted. If you encounter this issue while using a GoodRx Prescription Discounts coupon or discount card at the pharmacy, please give us a call at
1-855-470-9649, Monday through Friday, 9:00AM — 5:00PM CT. GoodRx Advocates are always happy to help and can typically resolve most issues while you’re in the pharmacy. My pharmacy accepted my coupon, but the price is different. What do I do?
Prices listed on AAA.com/GoodRx are updated regularly and generally accurate. If you believe you were charged the wrong price while using a GoodRx Prescription Discount coupon or discount card at the pharmacy, here are a few things you can check to make sure you receive the correct price.
First, does the coupon you used match the information on your pharmacy receipt?
- Does the name of the medication on your receipt match the coupon? Example: “metoprolol” is different than “metoprolol ER – extended release”.
- Do the form (i.e. tablet, capsule or cream) and strength (i.e. 20mg or 1%) listed on your receipt match the form and strength on your coupon?
- Does the quantity that was filled match the quantity on your coupon?
If your coupon does not match the prescription that was filled for you:
- Check that the correct prescription was filled by the pharmacist.
- Find a new coupon at AAA.com/GoodRx that matches your prescription and ask the pharmacist to reprocess the coupon. If you already paid for the medication, a refund will be given at the discretion of the pharmacy.
Second, did you use the most current coupon from the website?
Prices on AAA.com/GoodRx are updated regularly so that AAA Members can receive the lowest-possible prices for their prescriptions. If you're asked to pay a higher price than is listed on a coupon, it’s possible that your pharmacy has an older coupon or discount card on file for you.
To make sure you receive the lowest price available, check prices on AAA.com/GoodRx and show the new coupon to your pharmacist the next time you fill a prescription.
Pharmacies are contractually obligated to accept GoodRx Prescription Discounts coupons and discount cards under most circumstances, and issues are rare.
